The Alkylphenols & Ethoxylates Research Council (APERC) is a North American organization whose mission is to promote the safe use of alkylphenols (APs), alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) and related products through science-based research, product stewardship and outreach efforts, within the framework of responsible chemical management.
For more than twenty years, APERC and its member companies have been actively engaged in the conduct and review of toxicological, environmental fate and ecotoxicity research on APs, APEs and other AP derivatives.
Activities of the Alkylphenols & Ethoxylates Research Council include:
- Sponsoring research and activities to advance the scientific understanding of the health and environmental safety of alkylphenol- based products;
- Communicating findings of research and regulatory assessments to affected users and other stakeholders;
- Coordinating the development and submission of scientific dossiers to governmental authorities such as United States Environmental Protection Agency and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) on behalf of APERC member companies; and
- Advocating science-based public policy.
