Product Chemistry

Nonylphenol is the commercial description for a complex mixture of branched nine-carbon alkyl-chain substituted phenols.  Since the para isomer predominates, the product is most accurately described as para-nonylphenol, branched (p-NP or PNP).

Octylphenol is a single isomer specifically described as  4-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)phenol, also called 4-tert-Octylphenol.

Nonyl- and Octylphenol ethoxylates are polymers produced from their respective alkylphenol. Alkylphenol ethoxylates are mixtures with varying levels of ethoxylation distributed in a normal curve around the target ethoxylation level.
